Today while I was out, I encountered this hawk again. I saw it before, but never got a good shot of it until now. I also found a mourning dove with a broken wing that I caught and brought to a wildlife rehabilitator. Hopefully she recovers, her mate will miss her.
I saw a lot of them hovering overhead, so I suspect a hawk attacked her, like this one. We don’t really have any stray cats around here, so that’s the only thing I can come up with.
UPDATE: I contacted the wildlife rehabilitator just in time, as the dove had recovered and was flying again, so my mom and I picked it up, and released it where I found it. The rehabilitator said that we should just open the top to the cardboard box that he was in, and he would fly away, and not to hold it to release it into the air, like everyone likes to do, especially with doves. The Spirit to live was in him. So, I got ready with my SLR and took some photos as we opened the box. The bird had lost a lot of its feathers while in captivity, so it could not fly long distances, however it eventually did fly away, about 50 yards, into a big bush where it will be safe for now.
Many thanks to those who prayed for us. I asked for a miracle, and God answered.
